World Civility Day is April 9. Join us for the only event of its kind in the country

Community Civility Counts will hold its fifth annual World Civility Day events on Thursday, April 9, 2020. A full-day of civility-themed activities will be held at Majestic Star Casino Event Center in Gary and an awards dinner in the evening at the Avalon Manor in Merrillville.
Community Civility Counts started as an initiative of the Gary Chamber of Commerce Public Policy Committee and
it has expanded to include many partners both locally and nationally. It was launched in 2015 at a press conference held in the Gary Chamber board room.
“As the President/CEO of the Gary Chamber of Commerce and speaking on behalf of our board of directors, I am elated over the scope and success of the Community Civility Counts initiative,” said Chuck Hughes. “We could not have envisioned early on that CCC would now be recognized in several areas of the world.”
Its fourth World Civility Day event, April 11, 2019, was sold out with 300 people from Indiana and nine other states and three countries. UN Ambassador Dr. Clyde Rivers and internationally known songstress Ms. Melba Moore, were the special evening guests at the Avalon Manor in Merrillville.
Dr. Rivers is expected to return for this years’ World Civility Day.
World Civility Day will kickoff with a press conference at City of Gary City Hall, 401 Broadway, on Wednesday, April, 8th at 11:00am. On Thursday, April 9th at 8:30am is the opening ceremonies conducted by Dr. Rivers, followed by workshops $30, at 9:00am – 3:00pm at Majestic Star Casino Event Center. Workshops include lunch.
The awards dinner, $70, held at the Avalon Manor in Merrillville, will include featured speakers and civility awards presented by Community Civility Counts.
